Within the project, two specialized studies were conducted to enhance the healthcare system in Greece. These studies aimed to understand and mitigate the impact of Covid-19 on vulnerable patients, assess online tools piloted in selected hospitals in Greece and Italy. The first study describes the healthcare system in Greece at the hospital and community levels, including a comparative analysis with similar systems in Europe. It emphasizes the impact of severe underlying conditions on the course and outcome of Covid-19 in vulnerable patients, such as the elderly, cardiac patients, oncology patients, etc. The study aims to identify inherent and systemic weaknesses, find possible solutions, and propose specific interventions, along with assessing the feasibility of public-private collaboration in healthcare.
The second study evaluates the pilot implementation of online tools (eHealthPass platform) in three pilot hospitals: the University General Hospital of Patras "Panagia i Voithia", the University General Hospital of Ioannina, and the General Hospital of Ioannina "G. Chatzikosta". It describes the patient selection process, monitoring based on a specific methodology (roadmap), and evaluates the functionality of the telemonitoring platform and the information collected through it. The study's value lies in exercising predictions for future needs and integrating policies based on the experience gained.
The integration of CoofHea2 project results and observations is believed to contribute to further improving the healthcare system in Greece and Italy, addressing recognized weaknesses, and better managing future urgent health situations.
